![]() ![]() It would be easy, but not unfair, to compare Triangle Strategy to Game of Thrones in many ways. One of my favorite characters was introduced as powerful but sympathetic, then was ordered to war in which they killed off some major good guys, but then they slowly started their path down a redemption arc as they realized just how far they'd gone into the brutality. The grounded human story of resources and ambition may not sound exciting, but in a genre that's usually filled with mad mages or ancient gods threatening to destroy their respective worlds, it's refreshing to play a game focused on human political machinations. Needless to say, things go badly, and everyone starts fighting once again. The three competing states have vied for control of salt and iron, but a new joint mining project serves as a symbol of peace. Instead, the characters do battle over resources and political authority. Magic exists on the continent of Norzelia, but here it's a tool and weapon more than a world-defining power. It's important to start with the plot and setting, because this is a story-heavy game. ![]() Likewise, (and also extremely importantly for a word- and number-heavy RPG) I was able to easily read all the text fairly easily both on the Switch itself and on a relatively small television. #Triangle strategy survey tv#It looks good on both TV mode and handheld on the Switch, although I ended up preferring the latter slightly because the characters really popped on the small screen. Being able to zoom in and out and swirl the camera around or tilt from an isometric to a top-down view, all while looking consistent and clear, is a tremendous achievement. It’s the hallmark of Tomoya Asano, who also worked as a producer on the similarly impressive Octopath Traveler. ![]() You can check out the details from the English survey results page. The initial impressive standout for Triangle Strategy is its two-dimensional character pixel art that exists in a flexible three-dimensional world. Hard and Easy difficulty settings will be available for battles as well. We aim to further shorten loading times by launch.”Īuto-play and Skip features for event scenes will be added, along with conversation logs and character profiles. “Loading times during events have been reduced and are now approximately 10 seconds shorter in the most notable scenes. #Triangle strategy survey full#On the other hand, there were feedbacks regarding long loading times and cumbersome UI, and the developer will make various adjustments for the game’s full release. Looking at the survey results, it seems like these parts of the game were well received by the players. The highlights of this game are the tactical turn-based battles, the beautiful HD-2D graphics, and the rich and profound war story. The story and the fate of nations will also change depending on your choices.Īccording to the survey results from the demo version, 70% of players gave the game a score of 4 or 5 out of 5 (There were approximately 25,000 survey responses). Your decisions will be accumulated as your belief that will determine who will join the allies. Players will be forced to make choices and decisions which will bolster one of three convictions: Utility, Morality, and Liberty. The game takes place in the continent of Norzelia, war-torn land where three nations have been fighting over salt and iron. TRIANGLE STRATEGY is a new HD-2D tactics RPG developed by Tomoya Asano’s team at Square Enix, the same team behind Bravely Default and OCTOPATH TRAVELER. ![]()
